We are currently looking for multiple Maintenance Workers to engage in various physical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of our facilities and associated infrastructure.

Work conditions may vary, requiring adaptability to different weather conditions and hours, although regular schedules are established.

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties of this role include:

  • Conducting routine maintenance on fire hydrants, meters, valves, pump stations, reservoirs, and buildings.
  • Locating, inspecting, and maintaining valves, hydrants, and meters using maps and drawings.
  • Performing limited pavement restoration and environmental protection around construction sites.
  • Specialized tasks such as new service installations, leak detection, and repairs.
  • Addressing customer concerns and conducting investigations related to water services.
  • Involvement in the installation and repair of customer water services and distribution systems.

Qualifications

Required education and experience include:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in physical labor, preferably related to underground utility maintenance.
Certifications and Training

Preferred certifications include:

  • Water Distribution Manager 1 (WDM1) certification.
  • CDL Class A with tanker endorsement (to be obtained within one year of hire).
  • Cross Connection Control Specialist (CCS) certification (to be obtained within one year of hire).

Additional preferred certifications: Flagger card, Forklift certification, Competent Person/Cave-In Protection training, Confined Space training, Asbestos Cement Pipe Work Practice and Procedure training, and First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Physical Requirements

This position involves various physical activities, including:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, balancing, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, and gripping.
  • Ability to lift objects exceeding 59 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills to hear emergency communications and commands.
Compensation and Benefits

This position is represented by a union and adheres to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The salary range for a Maintenance Worker is $44.31 per hour, with an anticipated hiring range of $40.14 based on experience and qualifications.
