We are currently looking for multiple Maintenance Workers to engage in various manual labor tasks associated with the upkeep and repair of our facilities and infrastructure.

This role involves working in diverse weather conditions and at various hours, although standard schedules are established.

Key Responsibilities

The essential duties include:

  • Conducting routine maintenance on fire hydrants, meters, valves, pump stations, reservoirs, and buildings.
  • Locating, inspecting, and maintaining valves, hydrants, and meters using maps and drawings.
  • Performing limited pavement and site restoration, as well as environmental protection around construction sites.

Specialized tasks may involve:

  • New service installations, tie-ins, leak detection, and repairs.
  • Addressing customer inquiries and conducting investigations.
  • Testing meters and resolving flow complaints.
  • Investigating water theft and managing backflow and other system risks.

Qualifications

Required education and experience include:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in physical labor, preferably related to underground utility maintenance and repair.
Certifications and Training

Preferred certifications include:

  • Water Distribution Manager 1 (WDM1) certification.
  • CDL Class A with tanker endorsement (to be obtained within one year of hire).
  • Cross Connection Control Specialist (CCS) certification (to be obtained within one year of hire).

Additional preferred qualifications may include:

  • Flagger card.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Competent Person/Cave-In Protection training.
  • Confined Space training.
  • Asbestos Cement Pipe Work Practice and Procedure training.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Physical Requirements

This position requires various physical activities, including:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, balancing, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, gripping, driving, stooping, crouching, and repetitive motions.
  • The ability to lift objects exceeding 59 pounds.
  • Capability to hear emergency communications and commands.
Compensation and Benefits

This position is represented by a union and adheres to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The salary range for a Maintenance Worker is $44.31 per hour, with an anticipated hiring range of $40.14, depending on experience and qualifications.
