Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Probation and Parole Officer II to join our team at the State of Vermont. As a Probation and Parole Officer II, you will be responsible for supervising and monitoring individuals on probation and parole, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals and reintegrate into society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor individuals on probation and parole, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals and reintegrate into society.
  • Conduct regular home and work visits to monitor compliance with probation and parole conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans to address the needs and goals of probationers and parolees.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and community partners to provide comprehensive support services to probationers and parolees.
  • Provide education and job training to help probationers and parolees develop skills and achieve employment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with probationers and parolees.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology or a related discipline.
  • OR a Bachelor's degree and 18 months or more of experience in human services casework.
  • OR a High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years or more of human services casework experience.
  • OR 2 years or more as a Probation & Parole Officer I and satisfactory completion of training required by the department.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology or a related discipline and experience in the delivery of casework, planning, and evaluation of offenders in a correctional setting.

Military experience.
