Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Probation and Parole Officer II to join our team at the State of Vermont. As a Probation and Parole Officer II, you will be responsible for working with offenders to help them reintegrate into society and achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular meetings with offenders to discuss their progress and provide guidance and support
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to help offenders achieve their rehabilitation goals
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and counselors, to provide comprehensive support to offenders
  • Monitor offenders' compliance with court orders and other conditions of their probation or parole
  • Provide education and job training to help offenders develop the skills they need to succeed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Master's degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology or a related discipline, or a Bachelor's degree and 18 months or more of experience in human services casework. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, you will need to have a valid driver's license and be willing to work in a field office, correctional and community setting. You will also need to be able to pass a background check and have a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working in corrections, law enforcement or the military. If you have a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology or a related discipline, and experience in the delivery of casework, planning and evaluation of offenders in a correctional setting, we encourage you to apply.
