Job Opportunity: Associate Attorney - Estate Planning

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join our team at the Law Office of Susan A. Katzen. As a key member of our Estate Planning department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional legal services to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and edit various legal documents related to Probate Law, including Accounting Petitions, Petitions for Instructions, and Conservatorship Petitions.
  • Manage Trust Administrations, Probate cases, and Conservatorship cases from beginning to end.
  • Address Probate Notes and Tentative Rulings by providing Supplements.
  • Work closely with the Owner and Senior Associate Attorney to ensure the progress of cases.
  • Delegate tasks to paralegals, legal assistants, and law clerks, overseeing their work.
  • Lead initial consultations and client meetings.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through consistent and timely communication.
  • Represent clients at hearings.
  • Coordinate with the billing department to prepare and send out invoices.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in any two of the following areas: Estate Planning, Special Needs Planning, Trust Administration, Conservatorships, and/or Probate.
  • Licensed with the California State Bar.
  • Has the capacity to handle matters and clients independently (after a period of orientation and monitored work).
  • Is dedicated to ensuring that clients receive top-notch service and results.
  • Has strong computer skills with extensive experience using MS Office Suite, timekeeping, and case management software.
  • Must have emotional intelligence and empathy. Our ideal Associate Attorney must have compassion for our clients and for humankind, and cannot be someone who cannot deal well with people.
  • Ability to work in the office (this is not a remote position).
