Job Description

The primary objective of this position is to promote Continuing and Professional Education's (CPE) objectives for providing a quality experience for program participants through the management and implementation of conferences, short courses, training programs, institutes, workshops, and other unique outreach offerings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and implement conferences, short courses, training programs, institutes, workshops, and other unique outreach offerings.
  • Develop and implement financial management and accountability plans for programs.
  • Ensure programs are implemented within scope and adhere to established timelines.
  • Manage vendors and ensure post-program financials are handled accurately.
  • Occasional travel may be required to provide local and out-of-town program support.
Requirements
  • Experience in a continuing education setting, hospitality environment, or program management environment with a focus on event planning.
  • Experience with financial management of various programs, including short courses, conferences, workshops, and specials.
  • Strong technical skills, including word processing, Excel, email, Internet navigation, and social media.
  • Ability to handle numerous projects and details simultaneously and accurately while prioritizing according to need and schedule.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to maintain thorough and accurate program files.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unanticipated changes or emergencies in an effective and professional manner.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent training and experience in business or hospitality management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with university and/or state purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Experience with invoicing and payments.
  • Conference management/planning experience.
  • Experience working within program budget constraints.
  • Designation of Certified Programs Planner (CPP) or Certified Meeting Planner (CMP).
