Job Summary

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and teaching life skills and social skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with youth and staff, promoting a positive and collaborative approach
  • Maintain healthy boundaries and provide support in emergency situations
  • Assess and respond to youth needs, following mandating reporting and licensing policies
  • De-escalate crises and provide anti-racist, inclusive, equity-based, and trauma-informed care
  • Partner with case managers to support youth case plans and maintain accurate records
  • Supervise youth, ensuring safety and accountability, and provide enrichment activities programming
  • Assist with household tasks, meal planning, and grocery shopping
  • Communicate with other providers and respond to community calls and referrals

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6 months minimum of experience working with youth
  • DCYF background clearance and valid driver's license
  • Ability to communicate effectively and lift up to 50 lbs
