Job Description:

Job Title: Direct Care Specialist

Reports to: Shelter Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Specialist to provide essential services to residents of The Poverello Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment, while providing support services to ensure the smooth operation of the Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check individuals in for lunch and dinner.
  • Complete weekend day staff duties/special assignments as directed by kitchen manager.
  • Provide services to residents of The Poverello Center consistent with the rules of occupancy and The Poverello Center's Mission.
  • Provide assistance to residents as needed.
  • Perform area inspections in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain safety through rule enforcement.
  • Document rule violations and records incident reports.
  • Maintain accurate records in the log.
  • Work collaboratively with other service providers to meet client needs.
  • Perform general office and clerical duties.
  • Staff the office, answer phone and direct calls as appropriate.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement if required.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Montana driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of a thorough background investigation.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience working with homeless individuals or people in poverty is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Exposure to unpleasant sights, sounds and odors is frequently encountered.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.54 per hour
