Job Overview

Under close supervision, this role entails providing technical expertise in the management, upkeep, and diagnostics of electronic and pneumatic control systems associated with HVAC, fire alarm, and similar automation frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the functionality and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related systems.
  • Execute skilled tasks in the construction, assembly, installation, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, modification, inspection, and maintenance of electronic and pneumatic controls for HVAC and associated systems.
  • Investigate issues, take voltage and current measurements, utilize test oscilloscope equipment, and connect and verify additional equipment or apparatus in relation to system expansion.
  • Carry out all other assigned responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Fundamental understanding of Low Voltage Control Systems, Electromechanical, Pneumatic, and Electro-pneumatic devices.
  • Familiarity with all relevant building and safety regulations.
  • Competence in using computers and building automation software.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education
  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
Experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and pneumatic controls for HVAC, fire alarm, and related automation systems is essential.
About UT Health San Antonio

Benefits Overview

UT Health San Antonio provides a comprehensive benefits package for its employees. Those working at least 20 hours a week with an appointment of at least 4.5 months are eligible for benefits.

Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is provided at no cost for employees, managed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be included in the plan through payroll deductions. Employees and their dependents can also benefit from reduced copays and coinsurance when utilizing UT Health Physicians, a network of 800 leading physicians, including over 100 specialists.

Dental - Employees and their families can choose from three dental insurance plans offered through Delta Dental Insurance Company, including two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Both PPO options allow employees to select any licensed dentist.

Vision - Comprehensive Vision Care benefits are available through Superior Vision Services, offering two vision plan options with either standard or enhanced benefits. Life insurance coverage includes $40,000 of group term life insurance and $40,000 of basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no cost, with options to purchase additional coverage for both employees and dependents at group rates.

Retirement - Employees can participate in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan with matching contributions from UT Health. ORP is available for eligible faculty and staff. Additional voluntary retirement programs are also offered for pre- or post-tax investments with a selection of five quality retirement plan providers.

Time Off - A generous leave program includes multiple paid leave options:
  • Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) based on years of service, provided at the beginning of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in the first year based on the hire date.
  • Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued monthly for use in case of illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) available to care for a spouse, child, or parent after six months of continuous employment.
  • Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays each year, plus three floating holidays usable throughout the fiscal year.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) - Employees may enroll in FSAs to allocate pre-tax earnings for qualifying dependent daycare or out-of-pocket healthcare expenses.
