Rice University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development and Fundraising to join our Development Office. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects to support the university's fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with an emphasis on $100,000+ gifts.
- Identify fundraising priorities and devise plans and strategies to accomplish goals in collaboration with faculty and development colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with senior administration and academic partners to refine and actualize campaign priorities.
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure significant financial support for Rice University.
- Travel extensively to build relationships with donors, alumni, and other stakeholders, with occasional weekends required for special projects and events.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of related professional fundraising experience at the $50K level with demonstrated success of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major individual gifts.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communications skills, and ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and data analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
- Individual major gift fundraising experience at Rice University or a complex higher education institution.
- Experience working as a regional major gift officer or in parent fundraising.
- Experience working in a capital campaign and securing commitments involving gift planning.
- Knowledge of fundraising database software and gift planning principles.
- Familiarity with higher education senior administration and Certified Fundraising Executive certification (CFRE).
