Job Summary

Applewood Centers is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our team at the Gerson School. As a key member of our educational staff, you will provide essential support to our teaching staff in implementing positive behavior management principles and individualized behavior programs for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement individualized behavior programs for students.
  • Provide academic support to students in a classroom setting, under the supervision of the lead teacher.
  • Lead the school in implementing the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model, working closely with the principal and teaching staff.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families, promoting a supportive and inclusive school environment.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of student records, ensuring timely completion of assigned documentation.

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of child and adolescent development, human sexuality, family dysfunction, psychology, sociology, and behavior theory.
  • Strong clinical skills, including systemic family therapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral interventions.
  • Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and abilities, with a demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people.
