Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs critical work associated with the installation, inspection, and repair of plant process and facility equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facilities by performing a wide range of tasks, including installation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of various types of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Equipment Installation and Repair: Repair, alter, install, maintain, and reset machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Facilities Maintenance: Operate and maintain plant facilities systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  3. Tool Operation: Use hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment such as drill presses, lathes, and pipe threading machines, to perform duties.
  4. Parts Fabrication: Create minor parts, such as brackets, angles, and piping, using metal cutting saws, drill presses, and other tools.
  5. Equipment Testing: Test machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation and identify any issues.
  6. Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the removal of debris and excess oil and grease.
  7. Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication and cleaning, to prevent equipment failure.
  8. Electrical Repairs: Perform basic electrical repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting on plant equipment.
  9. Plumbing and Drainage: Maintain, repair, and install sewer and drain lines, plumbing, and plumbing fixtures.
  10. Valve and Expansion Joint Maintenance: Maintain all valves and expansion joints to ensure proper operation.
  11. Material Procurement: Obtain required materials from maintenance stores and other storage areas, following the spare parts issue process.
  12. Part Storage: Maintain an adequate replacement part storage system.
  13. Equipment Movement: Move equipment and machinery from one location to another using various equipment, such as rollers, trucks, and cranes.
  14. Blueprint Reading: Work from blueprints, sketches, and specifications to perform tasks, applying knowledge of shop mathematics as necessary.
  15. Welding and Brazing: Perform welding and brazing using oxy-acetylene, electric arc, and wire welding equipment.
  16. Safety and Quality: Minimize mechanical/electrical downtime and lost production without endangering operators or machinery, while following all safety regulations and quality standards.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Journeyman's card and/or 10 years of industrial experience is required.
  • Work Environment: Work on the manufacturing floor and Maintenance Shop Area, driving forklifts as necessary.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on the manufacturing floor.
