POSITION TITLE

PROGRAM LEADER

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Program Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE

The Program Leader at Opportunity Knocks plays a crucial role in designing and facilitating activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences. This position ensures that all participants have access to engaging experiences while maintaining a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to the responsibilities outlined in this job description.
  • Communicate respectfully and appropriately with participants at all times.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Follow the standards set forth in the employee handbook.
  • Maintain a full-time work schedule, primarily in-person with some remote flexibility for administrative tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience in providing support to individuals of varying abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ethical judgment.

PREFERRED

  • First Aid and CPR certification (to be obtained within 90 days if not already certified).
  • Experience in educational or recreational programs for individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to transport participants as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development

  • Collaborate with the program coordinator and fellow leaders to plan and implement activities that align with program goals.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
  • Create inclusive daily activity plans that cater to all participants.
  • Engage volunteers in program activities to enhance participant experiences.

Direct Engagement

  • Lead and facilitate activities, ensuring participant engagement and support.
  • Assist participants with transitions and personal needs during programs.
  • Foster a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

Team Collaboration

  • Participate in planning meetings and staff training sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for all individuals involved in the programs.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned.

Administrative Responsibilities

While the primary focus is on direct service, a portion of the role will involve administrative tasks aligned with organizational goals and individual skills.

Base Salary: $42,000
