POSITION TITLE
PROGRAM LEADER
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Program Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE
The Program Leader at Opportunity Knocks plays a crucial role in designing and facilitating activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences, ensuring that all participants can engage meaningfully. This position focuses on direct service, volunteer coordination, and teamwork to meet organizational objectives while maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere.

- Maintain a full-time work schedule, primarily in-person with some remote flexibility for administrative tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Ability to work independently on various projects.
- Strong teamwork skills, collaborating with staff, volunteers, and partner organizations.
- Proficient or willing to become proficient in providing diverse support to participants.
- Exhibit sound judgment, problem-solving abilities, and ethical standards.
PREFERRED
- First Aid and CPR certification (must complete training within 90 days if not certified at hire).
- Seizure first aid certification (must complete training within 90 days if not certified at hire).
- Experience in educational or recreational programs for individuals with mixed abilities.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to transport participants as needed.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with individuals with intellectual and developmental differences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Planning & Coordination
- Collaborate with the program coordinator and fellow leaders to plan and implement program activities aligned with organizational goals.
- Assist in conducting assessments as part of the program planning process.
- Follow established planning criteria and deadlines from program meetings.
- Develop and execute daily activity plans that are accessible to all participants.
- Facilitate volunteer involvement in program activities.
- Support the program coordinator in daily planning tasks.
Direct Service
- Lead designated initiatives and activities during programs.
- Engage participants actively during programs.
- Facilitate connections between participants and community members, including volunteers and partners.
- Assist participants with transitions and personal needs during programs.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Team Collaboration & Work Ethic
- Participate in group planning sessions for program activities.
- Attend various meetings, including staff and community networking sessions.
- Assist in training and development activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for all individuals involved.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities
While the primary focus is on direct service, a portion of the role will involve administrative tasks aligned with the organization's strategic objectives, considering the employee's skills and interests.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Opportunity Knocks offers a transparent salary structure, ensuring equitable compensation across the organization. The base salary for the Program Leader position is $42,000.
