Design Engineer for Payload Systems

We are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced payload systems for our mission to Mars.

About the Role:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions for payload integration and deployment.
  • Develop detailed designs for structural and electromechanical components, ensuring precision and efficiency.
  • Track and analyze mass properties to optimize assembly performance.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation, including mechanical drawings and bills of material.
  • Guide prototype manufacturing through assembly, integration, and testing.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in 3D CAD design in a high-volume production environment.
  • Prior experience selecting materials and surface treatments for mechanical components.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in tolerance analysis for multi-component assemblies.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with NX and Teamcenter software.
  • Experience with electronics packaging and composite structures.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000-$180,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
