We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with expertise in designing and analyzing avionics mechanical enclosures for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) on satellite systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing line replaceable unit (LRU) specific design and analyses, such as random vibration analysis and hand calculation sizing based on quasi-static accelerations.
  • Contributing to overall system architecture configuration selection by collaborating and trading complex inputs from multiple disciplines – Electrical, RF, Thermal, Dynamics, Mechanisms, Materials, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test.
  • Generating detailed designs with 3D CAD assemblies/components and 2D drawings as deliverables.
  • Conducting static, dynamic, and modal structural analysis as needed to support design work.
  • Delivering efficient designs capable of high volume production throughput (DFM, DFA).
  • Documenting and presenting materials for technical design reviews.
  • Designing and supporting test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for space hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with prototyping and implementation.
  • Prior experience in designing complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
  • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter software.

The estimated annual salary range for this position is between $105,600/year and $185,000/year, depending on the location within the United States.
