Redmond, Washington, United States SpaceX Full time

At SpaceX, we believe that a future where humanity explores the stars is more exciting than one where we don't.

We are actively developing technologies to make this possible, with the goal of enabling human life on Mars.

This position involves creating comprehensive engineering documentation and assembly-level work instructions for the transition from prototype to production.

You will perform hands-on engineering and liaison roles between design engineering and production as new designs move from concept to production.

Troubleshooting and disposition of fabrication issues on prototypes and production assemblies are also part of your responsibilities.

You will participate in design reviews to improve design for manufacturability, procurement cost, and quality control.

Additionally, you will perform manufacturing assessments of new designs and drive optimization for manufacturability and cost.

You will understand vehicle performance at the system level to validate that the as-built vehicle is "go for launch".

Reviewing test data and supporting anomaly investigation and resolution are also part of your duties.

To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering and 1+ year of experience in system-level integration of mechanical assemblies, machining, sheet metal fabrication, or system-level testing.

Preferred skills include an advanced degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering, experience with 3D CAD software, written and visual work instructions, GD&T, and DFX.

You should also have experience with basic machining operations, assembly and manufacturing of prototype designs, specifying and qualifying materials and components for space flight, and project team experience such as Formula SAE or Hybrid Electric Vehicle.

Able to travel to other SpaceX sites as needed and available to work extended hours and weekends as required.

As a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State, you must comply with ITAR regulations.
