Senior Systems Engineer

This role is integral to supporting the United States Marine Corps' Program Manager Ground Based Air Defense (PM GBAD) within the Program Executive Office Land Systems (PEO LS). As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will leverage a multidisciplinary approach to tackle requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, testing and evaluation, maintainability, and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in systems engineering tasks including requirements analysis, functional analysis, design solution formulation, systems analysis and control, and the creation and upkeep of systems architecture documentation.
- Utilize systems engineering principles to convert quantified needs into system performance parameters and identify system configurations.
- Draft and issue systems engineering documentation, processes, procedures, and milestones.
- Support the government Systems Engineer in all technical facets of the assigned program.
- Conduct top-level design, development, integration, testing, installation, and troubleshooting activities.
- Translate military operational and mission requirements into actionable system concepts and performance specifications.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements, and engineering modifications.
- Participate as a technical expert in post-award program reviews, design reviews, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Assess design efforts to ensure the integration of all engineering disciplines and the adequacy of the analysis performed, bringing in additional technical expertise as necessary.
- Create and evaluate test plans, procedures, and reports for technical adequacy on assigned programs, including both Government and contractor tests, as well as all failure reports.
- Monitor and evaluate system performance against specification requirements, assessing field performance and risks associated with meeting user and specification requirements.
- Initiate engineering change proposals and waivers/deviations as needed, conducting physical and functional configuration audits.
- Review program management documents to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of technical content.
- Develop solution designs based on the analysis of requirements and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
- 2-5 years of experience in supporting Government programmatic planning, coordination, and execution related to cost, schedule, and performance of Government programs is preferred. Experience in mid-level roles within government or industry in relevant areas such as DoD Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process, or systems engineering of large complex Systems of Systems or Service Oriented Architecture environments is highly desirable.
- Thorough knowledge of the Systems Engineering Management Process and its implementation as it pertains to the Marine Corps Acquisition process across all life cycle phases is preferred; familiarity with DOD policies on Systems Engineering, Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD), and IPT Management is essential. The ability to coordinate and negotiate design and engineering activities with related programs and organizations is crucial.
- Compliance with all Federal COVID-19 protocols applicable to contractors is mandatory.
- Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:
- Design and/or architecture of RF communications or surveillance systems.
- Integration and/or testing of tactical equipment.
- Ground-based surveillance and/or sensing systems utilized by the Marine Corps.
- IT systems and radar systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision due to computer work.
- Light to moderate lifting may be necessary.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required, including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
