The Division of Community Corrections (DCC) is actively seeking motivated candidates for the role of Probation and Parole Agents. Our offices are strategically located across the state, ensuring comprehensive coverage and support for those we supervise.

Position Overview

As a Probation and Parole Agent, you will be tasked with overseeing a designated caseload of individuals placed under court-ordered supervision. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating and developing case plans tailored to the needs of offenders.
  • Encouraging lawful behavior and community engagement.
  • Preparing thorough and timely reports, investigations, and case documentation.
  • Conducting community outreach and acting as a liaison between offenders and community resources.

Compensation and Benefits

This position falls within pay schedule and range 12-06, offering a starting hourly wage of $22.51, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package from the State of Wisconsin. The Senior Probation and Parole Agent role is classified under pay schedule/range 12-08, with a starting rate of $26.33 per hour. Salary increments are scheduled at various intervals in accordance with the Compensation Plan.

Application Requirements

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application. The Department of Corrections may require pre-employment drug screenings, and all candidates will undergo criminal background checks prior to selection.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include education, training, or experience in:

  • Social work methodologies, including case management and needs assessment.
  • Criminal justice principles.
  • Victim support services.
  • Cultural competency.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • A valid driver's license and compliance with state fleet requirements.

For Senior level applicants, a minimum of three years of experience in probation or parole, including the management of correctional clients, is required.

Special Requirements

At the time of hire, Probation and Parole Agents must possess a valid driver's license and meet specific driving history criteria. Individuals with certain driving violations may be ineligible to operate state vehicles.
