Job Summary

The Department of Corrections is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for inspecting and analyzing equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and performing repairs to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

This role requires a strong background in construction or repair of structures, as well as experience in general maintenance and repairs. You will also be responsible for operating powered grounds maintenance equipment, such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and lawn mowers.

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will work closely with our maintenance team to ensure that all facilities are well-maintained and meet the highest standards of safety and quality. You will also be responsible for supervising and training inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and analyze equipment to diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs
  • Operate powered grounds maintenance equipment, such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and lawn mowers
  • Supervise and train inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, and vehicle maintenance
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that all facilities are well-maintained and meet the highest standards of safety and quality

Requirements

  • Experience or training in construction or repair of structures
  • Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs
  • Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
