Project Insight:

We are collaborating with Westinghouse Electric Company to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our client, Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). As the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, we are responsible for the design of the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant, as well as the construction of the entire facility. This unique opportunity seeks talented individuals to help strengthen Poland's nuclear energy framework for future generations.

Position Summary:

The Systems Engineering Specialist will support the systems engineering initiatives undertaken on the project. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and collaborative skills, demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, a proactive attitude, and a passion for innovative design. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing essential systems engineering documentation, along with a solid understanding of industry standards and design criteria.

Initially, the role requires full-time presence in the Reston, Virginia project office, with potential for part-time telework flexibility as the position evolves.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop systems engineering deliverables.
  • Create system and facility design requirement documents.
  • Assist in establishing system-level requirements validation and verification processes, including test specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct periodic assessments to ensure requirements are effectively implemented and traceable in design.
  • Prepare impact analyses for proposed changes to requirements.
  • Facilitate technical discussions to address system design challenges.
  • Engage directly with clients and regulatory representatives.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution, with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Possession of an active security clearance or capability to obtain one.
  • International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification (or ability to secure within 12 months).
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles, requirements management methodologies, and related practices.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools, such as IBM Rationale DOORS or Innoslate by Spec Innovations.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, codes, and standards and their impact on design.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • U.S. Professional Engineering License.
  • INCOSE Certification.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety requirements in design.
  • Experience with large, complex EPC contracts.
  • Prior involvement in DOE or DOD projects.
  • Experience with AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant Design.
