Job Description

The City of Chesapeake Human Resources is seeking a skilled Crisis Stabilization Clinician Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crisis stabilization team, you will provide comprehensive assessment, intervention, and treatment services to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.

About the Role

This dynamic role requires a highly skilled clinician with expertise in crisis intervention, clinical assessment, and treatment planning. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centered, trauma-informed care to individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine medical necessity, client needs, and pertinent factors related to crisis episodes.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on client strengths and resources.
  • Provide individual and family therapy as needed.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and skills restoration to improve acute symptoms.
  • Conduct safety planning and health literacy counseling to prevent the need for higher-level care.
  • Care coordinate and transition to the next level of care, including screening and referrals for appropriate behavioral health services and community resources.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field.
  • At least four years of full-time equivalent experience in crisis intervention and treatment planning.
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC).
Salary and Benefits

Location

This role is based in Chesapeake, VA, and requires occasional weekend coverage as the program develops.
