Mental Health Supervisor

The City of Chesapeake (VA) is seeking a skilled Licensed Clinician II to join our team. As a Mental Health Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision to clinicians on a daily, weekly, biweekly, and monthly basis. This includes selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning, and evaluating work, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and recommending termination.
You will also provide individual, group, and family counseling and/or crisis intervention for assigned cases with mental health & substance use disorders, intellectual disabilities, or developmental delays. Utilize evidenced-based practices to support client treatment outcomes. Consult with colleagues as well as other agencies and service providers such as social services, schools, physicians, or probation officers, in accordance with confidentiality guidelines. Link to additional levels of care as appropriate.
Responsibilities include completing annual master assessments, diagnosing individuals based on presenting symptoms and related behaviors, and triaging individuals to the appropriate departments within the agency for ongoing services and treatment. You will also complete required annual compliance training, participate actively and constructively in program and professional development, and may participate in special projects within the agency for expanding services or improving processes and procedures.
This role requires a master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field, or another degree as approved by the Virginia Department of Health Professions. In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
We are looking for candidates who require State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC). A valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's Driving Standards may also be required.
