Join Our Team as a Crisis Stabilization Therapist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Crisis Stabilization Therapist to join our team at the City of Chesapeake Human Resources. As a member of our crisis intervention team, you will play a vital role in providing support and stabilization services to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.

About the Role:

The Crisis Stabilization Therapist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments to determine medical necessity, client needs, and pertinent factors related to the crisis episode. You will develop individualized treatment plans that focus on client strengths and resources, provide individual and family therapy as needed, and facilitate crisis intervention and skills restoration to improve acute symptoms.

You will also conduct safety planning and health literacy counseling to prevent the need for a higher level of care and provide targeted education concerning diagnosis and treatments. Your expertise will be invaluable in coordinating care and transitioning clients to the next level of care, including screening and referrals for appropriate behavioral health services and community resources.

In this dynamic role, you will work collaboratively with internal and community stakeholders, including police, community partners, peer support, and emergency services staff, to coordinate care and safety in the community.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field
  • A minimum of four years of related full-time equivalent experience
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC)

Preferred Qualifications: Supervisor experience

Salary and Benefits:

We offer an exceptional salary range of $68,370-$90,591, depending on qualifications, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and more.

About Us:

The City of Chesapeake Human Resources is committed to delivering high-quality services that meet the evolving needs of our community. We strive to foster a culture of excellence, diversity, and inclusion, where all employees can grow and thrive.
