Maintenance Assistant

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance projects, including installations and repairs, to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our community. You will work closely with our Maintenance Supervisor and other team members to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general maintenance projects, including installations and repairs, to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our community.
- Must understand and have knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Ensure that walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained and repaired.
- Must have basic prep and painting abilities.
- Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner, which includes painting walls and cleaning carpets.
- Responsible for all in-house plumbing, e.g. sinks, toilets, and bathtubs.
- Responsible for minor electrical work within units and in common areas, e.g. light switches, wall outlets, garbage disposals, etc.
- Responsible for painting of all apartments and common areas.
- Repair, clean, and maintain all carpet, floor coverings, and furniture.
- Responsible for completing all work orders in a timely manner - noting any other work completed at the location but not listed on work order.
- Document safety issues as well as physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state, and federal guidelines.
- Assist MS in preventative maintenance and cleaning of the community vehicles (buses and cars, vans).
- Assist with training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications.
- Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Regional Maintenance Supervisor, or General Manager.
- Responds immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies, based on established protocol.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred. (Must be at least 18 years of age.)
- 1-3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating, and HVAC skills.
- Prefer knowledge of fire suppression & irrigation systems.
- Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability.
- Flexible and must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
