Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Office Assistant II to provide support to our medical staff at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including scheduling appointments, coordinating physician calendars, and transcribing dictation.

This is a per diem position, requiring a flexible schedule with a minimum of 2-3 days per week. Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred.

As a Medical Office Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care. If you are a detail-oriented and organized individual with excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule patients' appointments and coordinate physician calendars
  • Transcribe dictation, including patient narratives and discharge summaries
  • Complete preliminary registration for new patients and update information on existing patients
  • Enter physician charges into the billing system and ensure accurate insurance coverage
  • Accept co-payments and prepare exam rooms between patients

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years' experience as a secretary or in a medical environment
