Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Reliability Specialist

Position Overview:

The Senior Electrical Reliability Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing electrical reliability initiatives within the Maintenance and Reliability division. This position requires the application of Reliability Engineering principles and statistical analysis to support various operational processes.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Manage electrical and instrumentation oversight related to the Management of Change process.
  • Support capital projects from initial design through to commissioning.
  • Identify and collaborate with preferred equipment manufacturers and industry specialists.
  • Conduct inspections of newly installed and repaired electrical and instrumentation equipment, providing recommendations for spare parts.
  • Offer technical support to the electrical and instrumentation technician teams and contractors as necessary.
  • Guide the implementation of new electrical and instrumentation technologies, updating plant standards and drawings accordingly.
  • Develop and enforce Reliability and Maintenance protocols for electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Create Reliability Control Plans for critical electrical and instrumentation assets.
  • Conduct failure analyses and propose corrective measures.
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) initiatives, applying lean methodologies.
  • Engage in Reliability-focused Failure Modes and Effects Analyses as needed.
  • Establish and execute reliability control plans for electrical and instrumentation systems as part of ongoing asset risk management efforts.
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment performance issues as required.
  • Actively participate in safety programs, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Process Safety Management and relevant safety standards.
  • Contribute to the overall operational systems of the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability engineering with a focus on instrumentation and controls.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in maintenance and reliability engineering within chemical or petrochemical environments.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, repair techniques, and performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience with electrical reliability, including low and medium voltage distribution systems.
  • Proficient in using reliability data management systems.
  • Understanding of relevant electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead and influence teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
