Electrical Controls Engineer

**Job Overview**
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team at GAF. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems in our industrial continuous process manufacturing environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
Manage the design and installation of electrical/electronic equipment, including electrical power distribution systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and variable speed AC and DC drives.
Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, including writing specifications, local and national electrical codes.
Partner with the maintenance planner to ensure electrical projects are properly scheduled and partner with the maintenance engineer to develop a good electrical/electronic preventative maintenance system.
Perform design calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications for electrical and electronic PLC-based systems.
Investigate and analyze electrical or electronic-based problems associated with production operations and take appropriate action to correct these problems.
Assist and train maintenance, production, or other technicians as needed with technical or troubleshooting-related matters.
Contribute to capital projects initiated by on-site engineering resources or the corporate Controls Team.
Develop capital project scope of work and create detailed funding requests for assigned projects.
Direct the work of outside contractors and maintenance staff during project installations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with 15+ years of experience in an industrial continuous process manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software, including Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FTView, CCW, and FTAC.
Proficiency selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PowerFlex variable frequency drives.
Deep understanding of basic electrical theory and knowledge of electrical/electromechanical devices.
Knowledge of different types of instrumentation and how to calibrate them, including pressure, temperature, and flow.
HMI development expertise in FTView and/or Wonderware.
Experience with maintaining production networks, including servers and managed switches.
Demonstrated ability to manage/install production servers.
Demonstrated experience leading controls projects to fruition, including preparing scope, meeting with vendors, evaluating vendor progress, and managing the installation/startup.
Demonstrated ability to use trending and other analytical tools to troubleshoot process issues.
Deep understanding of how a continuous web handling system works and how to troubleshoot it.
Demonstrated willingness to share knowledge with other team members/plants and actively engage with other controls personnel.
Expertise focused on electrical components, electrical power distribution systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and variable speed AC drives.
Demonstrated process control expertise in defining, designing, installing, and maintaining control logic systems and equipment in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
Ability to tune PID controllers.
Experience selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley safety PLCs, I/O, and STO hardware.
Acknowledged SME on controls improvements as it relates to their/similar plants.
Effective communication skills.

Annual Salary Range: 130,500-166,750
