General Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet state-specific requirements along with the following:

  • Capability to engage closely with children at their developmental level.

  • Assisting with children's hygiene needs when necessary.
  • Understanding and adhering to employment policies.
  • Effective and professional communication with colleagues, children, and parents.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations, including emergency evacuations.
  • Compliance with all relevant childcare laws and regulations.
Educational Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill one or more of the following educational criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child Development.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field with 18 semester hours of coursework related to young children from birth to age 8.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) or Early Childhood Teaching Credential.
  • Proof of enrollment in a CDA Credentialing Program or an accredited degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Lead Educator Duties

The responsibilities of a Lead Educator may include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing and maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Designing classroom arrangements that support educational goals.
  • Developing effective classroom management strategies.
  • Ensuring classroom equipment is well-maintained.
  • Implementing emergency procedures effectively.
  • Promoting healthy eating habits during meals.
  • Maintaining state-required child-to-educator ratios.
  • Conducting minor cleaning tasks promptly.
  • Preparing a daily schedule that accommodates children's needs.
  • Creating a print-rich environment to foster literacy.
  • Encouraging creativity through various activities.
  • Facilitating both active and quiet play opportunities.
  • Integrating approved resources into lesson plans.
  • Supporting children's social and emotional growth.
  • Establishing positive relationships with families.
  • Maintaining professional development and ethical standards.
