Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Manager of Engineering Services and Maintenance for our pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will spearhead top-tier Engineering and Maintenance Services to enhance the availability and reliability of process and utility equipment. This role involves managing a team of direct reports and overseeing third-party contractors to ensure optimal maintenance performance through our Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the engineering team in advancing the Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) to integrate reliability into the organizational culture.
  • Ensure exceptional maintenance of manufacturing, utilities, and facilities equipment through effective management of the ME&C Maintenance Excellence Programme.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance MEP key performance indicators (KPIs) such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, compliance, and schedule adherence.
  • Improve maintenance performance of manufacturing and utility equipment by implementing a reliability-based asset care program.
  • Develop and execute effective maintenance and reliability strategies for engineering systems, including Life and Process Safety systems, Electrical & Instrumentation, ATEX systems, and Mechanical integrity.
  • Foster a proactive team culture that anticipates and resolves issues efficiently.
  • Enhance team engagement through regular one-on-one meetings, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Promote a Safety Culture by ensuring adherence to safety standards and practices.
  • Negotiate cost-effective external contracts and manage contractor performance on-site.
  • Oversee relevant budgets to meet financial targets.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Site Lead and Senior Leadership Team to align on strategic and functional goals, schedules, and activities.

Qualifications
A degree in Engineering or a related field is required. Membership in the Institute of Engineers of Ireland (IEI) is advantageous. Candidates should possess a minimum of 9 years of experience, including at least 5 years as an Engineer and 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Previous experience in manufacturing, facilities/utilities maintenance, or project management within the pharmaceutical or medical device sectors is essential. Familiarity with 5S, TPM, SMED, and other lean/six sigma/continuous improvement methodologies is expected. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, along with a keen attention to detail, are crucial. A proven track record in managing, guiding, and coaching teams is required.
