Position Overview:
Popli Design Group (PDG) is a dynamic Architecture and Engineering firm seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to enhance our Civil/Site Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be integral to multidisciplinary project teams, spearheading civil/site initiatives throughout New York State.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Project Engineer, you will:

  • Independently design and oversee the creation of site plans, traffic circulation pathways, roadways, parking areas, site utilities, grading and drainage systems, and watershed models.
  • Delegate design tasks to junior engineers and provide mentorship.
  • Review and prepare technical engineering documents, including comprehensive plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct technical and quality assessments of engineering work to ensure compliance with company and client standards.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record for projects under your supervision.
  • Coordinate with project staff, clients, and regulatory agencies to meet project requirements and secure necessary permits.
  • Occasionally travel within New York State for project assessments and construction oversight.

Required Skills:
Candidates should possess:
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D for site design and comprehensive drawing preparation.
  • Proficiency in watershed modeling and hydrology/hydraulic design software, such as TR55, TR20, HydroCAD, or similar.
  • Knowledge of NYS stormwater management regulations, including the design of water quality and quantity controls.
  • Experience with erosion and sediment control requirements in New York State.
  • Familiarity with local municipal site plan review processes and NYS SEQR.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to leading multiple assignments across various disciplines.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and embracing technology to enhance workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant site design experience; 8-10 years preferred.
  • NYS PE License or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
  • Certifications such as CPESC, LEED AP, or ENV SP are advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a multidisciplinary A/E office is a plus.
