Position Overview
We are in search of a skilled environmental specialist to contribute to the Water Resources Restoration Program (WRRP) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Site. The WRRP is responsible for monitoring environmental media to gather performance and baseline data, assess the effectiveness of CERCLA decisions, and manage the tracking and certification of Land Use Controls (LUCs) across the site. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and organization, and be adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze CERCLA decision documents to determine long-term stewardship (LTS) requirements and their implementation on-site.
- Collaborate with relevant Surveillance and Maintenance (S&M) programs across the three Oak Ridge sites, focusing on CERCLA LTS requirements.
- Assist in the tracking and coordination of CERCLA LTS requirements, including the annual certification of LUCs.
- Support the organization, tracking, and management of groundwater license agreements between the DOE and offsite property owners.
Qualifications
- Completion of 40-hour HAZWOPER training is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain a Q clearance.
- Self-motivated with minimal need for direction.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences is required.
Clearance and Health Requirements
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Pre-placement drug screening is mandatory.
