SCHEDULE:
The working hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role involves operating a variety of conventional and numerically controlled machining equipment on moderately complex tasks. The machinist will interpret blueprints, sketches, planning documents, verbal directives, and engineering specifications. Participation in lean manufacturing initiatives is essential to enhance productivity and minimize expenses. The position requires working with minimal supervision within a collaborative team setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up and operate multiple production machines, performing tasks such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts. Execute operations where materials, tooling, and procedures are predefined. Make necessary adjustments to machinery and report any malfunctions or issues with cutting performance.
  • Secure and align workpieces using standard fixtures and established methods.
  • Install and fine-tune cutting tools according to the type and size of the material being processed.
  • Adhere to established manufacturing protocols utilizing standard production machines, materials, and tools.
  • Modify feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to produce quality components as per documentation.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex components in accordance with detailed engineering blueprints and routing sheets to meet tight tolerances.
  • Inspect components for compliance with specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. Employ various magnification tools (including microscopes) to identify and prevent damage to surfaces and critical areas. Conduct visual inspections for burrs or defects on machined surfaces.
  • Regularly maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, precision, and reliability in accordance with division standards.
  • Consistently perform statistical process control (SPC) in line with division requirements.
  • Actively engage in lean initiatives by identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive suggestions. Effectively apply lean principles and tools in the work environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, while maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of three years of relevant machining experience, with the ability to work with limited supervision in a team environment.
  • Capability to perform machine setups.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Able to effectively implement lean initiatives.
  • Exhibits strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate within a team.
  • Interprets reports and utilizes job-specific software applications. Capable of using employee self-service systems to access online information and operate specialized automated systems.
  • Demonstrates team member competencies and engages in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Manual dexterity is essential for operating machinery. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision. Regular attendance and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others are expected. The employee may need to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
