SCHEDULE:
The working hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role involves operating a variety of conventional and numerically controlled machining equipment on moderately complex tasks. The machinist will interpret blueprints, sketches, planning documents, verbal instructions, and engineering specifications. This position plays a key role in contributing to lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and minimizing costs, while working collaboratively within a team setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up and operate multiple production machines, executing machining operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming. Ensure operations are conducted according to pre-established plans and make necessary adjustments as required.
  • Secure and align workpieces using standard fixtures and established techniques.
  • Install and fine-tune cutting tools based on the material type and size being processed.
  • Adhere to established manufacturing processes utilizing standard production machinery, materials, and tools.
  • Modify feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to produce quality components in accordance with documentation.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex parts, ensuring adherence to engineering blueprints and specifications.
  • Conduct inspections of parts to verify compliance with specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. Employ magnification tools to identify potential damage to surfaces and critical areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to uphold cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability as per division standards.
  • Regularly engage in statistical process control (SPC) activities relevant to division requirements.
  • Proactively implement lean initiatives by identifying areas for improvement and applying lean methodologies in the work environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, while maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Execute additional related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of three years of relevant machining experience, with the ability to work independently within a team framework.
  • Capability to perform machine setups effectively.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Solid understanding of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement lean initiatives successfully.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a strong team-oriented mindset.
  • Adept at interpreting reports and utilizing job-specific software applications.
  • Exhibit competencies as a team member, participating in goal setting, performance evaluations, and self-improvement activities.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


This position requires the ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. The machinist must demonstrate manual dexterity and operate machinery effectively. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision. Regular attendance and the ability to collaborate professionally with colleagues are essential. The role may involve lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
