REQUIRED CENTERLESS GRINDING EXPERIENCE

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role involves operating various conventional and/or numerically controlled machining centers on moderately complex tasks. The machinist will interpret blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and/or engineering, tooling, or equipment information. Participation in lean initiatives to enhance productivity and minimize costs is expected. The position requires working with limited supervision in a collaborative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and operate multiple production machines.
- Execute machining operations (including reworking parts) such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming components.
- Conduct machine operations where materials, tooling, and operational sequences have been predetermined.
- Make necessary adjustments to machinery and report any malfunctioning or cutting issues for resolution.
- Align and secure workpieces using standard fixtures and established methods.
- Install and modify cutting tools according to the type and size of material being processed.
- Adhere to established manufacturing procedures utilizing standard production machines, materials, and tooling.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to produce quality components, following documentation.

- Utilize hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machine parts according to moderately intricate engineering blueprints and routing sheets to meet tight tolerances.

- Inspect components for compliance with specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. Employ various magnification tools (including microscopes) to identify and prevent damage to surfaces and critical areas. Visually check parts for burrs or damaged machined surfaces.
- Regularly maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability as per division standards.
- Consistently perform statistical process control (SPC) in line with division requirements.
- Actively engage in lean initiatives by identifying and suggesting areas for improvement. Effectively apply lean concepts and tools in the work environment.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Undertake other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three years of relevant machining experience. Ability to work with limited supervision in a team setting.
- Proficient in making machine setups.
- Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Possesses a working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively implement lean initiatives.

- Exhibits strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, alongside the capacity to collaborate in a team environment.

- Able to interpret reports and utilize job-specific software applications.

Competent in using employee self-service systems to access online information and operate specialized automated systems.

- Effectively demonstrates team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


While performing the duties of this position, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.

The team member must demonstrate manual dexterity and utilize hands to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision. Regular attendance and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others are also expected. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
