SCHEDULE:
The working hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves operating various conventional and numerically controlled machining centers on moderately complex tasks. The machinist will work from technical drawings, sketches, planning documents, verbal instructions, and engineering specifications. The position also emphasizes participation in lean initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and minimizing costs. The individual will work collaboratively within a team environment with limited supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up and operate multiple production machines, performing machining operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts. Adjust machines as necessary and report any malfunctions or issues.
  • Align and secure workpieces using standard fixtures and established techniques.
  • Install and modify cutting tools based on the type and size of the material being processed.
  • Adhere to established manufacturing protocols using standard production machinery, materials, and tools.
  • Modify feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to ensure the production of quality components, following documentation guidelines.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machined components according to engineering specifications.
  • Inspect components for compliance with specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators. Employ various magnification tools to identify and prevent damage to critical areas.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability in accordance with division standards.
  • Regularly perform statistical process control (SPC) in line with division requirements.
  • Actively engage in lean initiatives by identifying areas for improvement and effectively applying lean concepts and tools in the workspace.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of three years of relevant machining experience, with the ability to work independently within a team setting.
  • Proficient in making machine setups.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
  • Capability to effectively implement lean initiatives.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret reports and utilize job-specific software applications. Proficient in using employee self-service systems for accessing online information and specialized automated systems.
  • Demonstrates team member competencies and engages in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Manual dexterity is essential for operating machinery, and specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision. Regular attendance and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others are expected. The role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
