Experienced Machinist

SCHEDULE:
The working hours are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role involves operating a variety of conventional and/or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining centers on moderately complex tasks. The machinist will interpret blueprints, sketches, planning documents, verbal instructions, and engineering specifications to execute tasks effectively. Participation in lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance productivity and minimize costs is essential. The position requires working collaboratively within a team environment with limited supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up and operate multiple production machines, executing machining operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming. Adjust machines as necessary and report any malfunctions or issues.
• Secure and align workpieces using standard fixtures and established techniques.
• Install and calibrate cutting tools according to the material type and size.
• Adhere to established manufacturing protocols utilizing standard production machines, materials, and tools.
• Modify feeds, speeds, and cutting depths to ensure quality machining as per documentation.
• Utilize hand and power tools to deburr precision components in accordance with engineering blueprints and route sheets, maintaining close tolerances.
• Conduct inspections of machined parts for compliance with specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers. Employ magnification tools to identify and prevent damage to critical areas.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment to uphold cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability in line with division standards.
• Regularly execute statistical process control (SPC) in accordance with division requirements.
• Actively engage in lean initiatives by identifying improvement opportunities and applying lean methodologies in the work area.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, while maintaining a tidy and organized workspace.
• Carry out additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of three years of relevant machining experience, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Proficient in machine setup and operation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and verbal directives.
• Familiarity with machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
• Proven ability to implement lean manufacturing principles.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Competence in interpreting reports and utilizing job-specific software applications.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in team member competencies and participate in performance feedback and self-development activities.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Manual dexterity is essential for operating machinery, and specific vision capabilities are necessary for close inspection. Regular attendance and the ability to work professionally with others are expected. The role may require lifting items up to 50 lbs.
