Youth Justice Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you interested in joining a dedicated team focused on guiding youth involved in the justice system towards constructive behavior and empowering them to contribute positively to society? The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is looking for individuals who can build meaningful connections with adjudicated youth to help them navigate personal challenges and provide encouragement to foster positive attitudes and responsible actions. This role requires a commitment to working with a diverse group of individuals and a strong passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a Youth Justice Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to provide non-professional care, supervision, and training to youth who have been court-committed within a secure or controlled environment. Your duties will include:
- Ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive atmosphere in accordance with relevant agency policies.
- Maintaining security through constant vigilance and direct supervision of residents to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
- Upholding order and discipline by actively supervising residents, responding to emergencies, and employing the least restrictive intervention techniques to manage behavior and maintain security.
- Providing guidance and instruction to residents to help them develop acceptable behaviors and skills in daily activities, including life skills and work training.
- Supporting their social and emotional development by modeling positive values and behaviors, fostering a genuine desire for change.

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Full-time employment.
- This position involves shift work in a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays. Shifts typically consist of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Travel may be required.
- Overtime may be necessary, both voluntarily and potentially mandatorily.
- Must be willing to accept employment at the designated facility.
- FREE PARKING available.
- Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in the care, custody, or guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement, correctional program, or educational organization; or
- Successful completion of the Youth Justice Coordinator Trainee program; or
- An associate's degree in social sciences, counseling, juvenile justice, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement: You must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening, along with satisfactory criminal history reports.
