About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Refrigeration/Boiler Technician to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine audits and equipment inspections, conducting repairs, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our refrigeration and boiler systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine audits and equipment inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on refrigeration and boiler systems, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues
  • Work collaboratively with other maintenance personnel to plan and conduct equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure optimal system performance and minimize downtime
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment
  • RETA certification and comprehensive knowledge in three or more of the following areas: ammonia refrigeration, engine and boiler systems, electricity and motor controls, controls and instrumentation, PLC/software and hardware, pneumatics and hydraulics, mechanical systems, predictive maintenance, maintenance planning, site utilities, system analysis and troubleshooting, pipefitting and welding, machining, and metal fabrication
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work independently
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a certification or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance and/or related college or technical level coursework
