Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistant Lead to join our team at Eastern Virginia Medical School. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating patient care and clinic operations, providing exceptional patient education, and ensuring seamless communication between clinic staff and department management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate morning and afternoon team huddles for daily clinic operations
  • Monitor and inventory supplies for the clinic and report to the appropriate supervisor
  • Provide patient education and information as instructed by clinic practitioners and protocols
  • Schedule patient appointments as necessary
  • Responsible for specific team training of all new clinic staff
  • Attend Clinic staff meetings, Department meetings, Provider meetings, and applicable Grand Rounds
  • Assist with development and recommend new work flows
  • Review monthly provider task reports with follow-up on outstanding tasks for providers in 30 day range
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA)
  • Equivalent military training will be accepted
  • Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years
  • Experience in a high volume clinical practice
  • Familiarity with desktop computing tools and multi-line phone systems
  • Ability to efficiently manage time, prioritize multiple tasks, and delegate tasks/responsibilities
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to make professional nursing decisions under the supervision of the physicians and licensed nurses
  • Possess professional interaction skills with physicians, outside offices, pharmacies, referring agencies, hospital personnel, and support staff
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
