As a Project Technician at Piedmont Service Group, your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing mechanical projects, which encompass the installation, replacement, upgrading, and servicing of various commercial and industrial HVAC systems, components, and assemblies. This includes but is not limited to hydronic systems, chilled water systems, DX, forced air, heat pumps, VAV, Constant Volume, Exhaust, Heat Recovery, Sheet Metal Ducting, and other related mechanical systems.
  • Overseeing and contributing to projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Working independently or collaboratively as needed, with potential responsibilities for guiding others.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC equipment effectively.
  • Upholding high standards of mechanical installation practices.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Following detailed project installation plans.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Demonstrating flexibility to work extended hours, including early mornings and late nights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of duct installation experience is required.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues are essential.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret schematics is necessary.
  • Understanding of the refrigeration cycle is important.
  • Familiarity with DDC controls is advantageous.
  • Capability to safely operate hand and powered tools (e.g., soldering, brazing, and welding).
  • Ability to work at heights using ladders, elevated platforms, boom lifts, and scaffolding.
  • The role requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs for loading, unloading, and storing materials and equipment, along with bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, balancing, kneeling, twisting, standing, and climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Successful candidates must pass a background check and drug screening upon receiving a conditional job offer.

Education and Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in commercial service or installation is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is essential.
  • CFC Universal Refrigerant Certification is required.
  • Certifications in forklift operation, boom lift (JLG), first aid, and CPR are encouraged.
