Job Overview

Piedmont Service Group has been a leader in HVAC solutions across the southeastern United States since 1971. We are currently seeking a skilled Project Technician/Mechanic to enhance our operations in the HVAC sector.

Work Schedule: Expect to work 40+ hours weekly, with occasional weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee mechanical projects, including the installation, replacement, enhancement, and upkeep of various commercial and industrial HVAC systems, components, and assemblies. This encompasses hydronic systems, chilled water systems, DX, forced air, heat pumps, VAV, Constant Volume, Exhaust, Heat Recovery, Sheet Metal Ducting, and other related mechanical systems.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Work autonomously or collaboratively as needed, potentially guiding others.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC equipment effectively.
  • Uphold high standards of mechanical installation practices.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow detailed project installation plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Exhibit flexibility to work extended hours, including early mornings and late nights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of duct installation experience.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Understanding of the refrigeration cycle.
  • Basic knowledge of DDC controls.
  • Proficient in safely operating hand and power tools (e.g., soldering, brazing, welding).
  • Capability to work on ladders, elevated platforms, boom lifts, and scaffolding.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs for loading, unloading, and storing materials and equipment, along with performing various physical tasks.
  • Successful candidates will need to pass a background check and drug screening.

Education and Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in commercial service or installation.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license is necessary.
  • CFC Universal Refrigerant Certification is mandatory.
  • Certifications in forklift operation, boom lift (JLG), first aid, and CPR are advantageous.
