Position Overview

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for orchestrating and overseeing the performance functions at The Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana, focusing on enhancing employee engagement. In this capacity, you will manage daily HR operations, facilitate onboarding processes, and conduct investigations related to employee relations while ensuring adherence to compliance standards.

Moreover, the Human Resource Manager will collaborate closely with the leadership team at the Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana to devise and implement strategies aimed at attracting, nurturing, and retaining a diverse workforce, thereby supporting the organization's mission of fostering thriving communities for children and families.

This role reports directly to the Executive Director and operates across the organization. Currently, this position functions independently, but it may evolve to include direct reports in the future. CCNELA is committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer.


Key Responsibilities

Talent Management and Workforce Planning

  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive recruitment, hiring, and onboarding strategies that ensure a diverse candidate pool and successful hires.
  • Facilitate workforce planning across departments, identify staffing needs, and implement best practices for talent acquisition and management.
  • Design and manage performance evaluation processes, adapting them as the organization expands.
  • Establish and maintain protocols for updating job descriptions, supporting strategic workforce planning.
  • Assist in drafting job descriptions and serve as the primary contact for recruitment inquiries.
  • Develop and advertise job openings, creating a network of recruitment sources.
  • Consult with hiring managers throughout the recruitment and interview processes.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires.

HR Compliance

  • Develop and implement policies, training programs, and initiatives to support the organization's HR compliance and strategic needs.
  • Monitor compliance with employment laws and regulations at all levels, revising policies as necessary to maintain adherence.
  • Stay informed about employment trends and legal requirements, advising management on necessary actions to ensure compliance.
  • Create and update policies and training materials as needed.

Employee Retention & Engagement

  • Lead initiatives to enhance organizational culture, including conducting climate surveys and developing action plans based on data analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement strategies for improving employee engagement and retention.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for staff members.

HR Operations

  • Administer or oversee various HR programs, including compensation, benefits, leave management, and employee relations.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices and regulatory changes in HR and employment law, communicating updates to management.
  • Serve as the administrator for employee benefits, managing enrollments and changes throughout the year.
  • Manage the Human Resource Information System, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Generate reports to analyze HR data and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Offer guidance to employees regarding benefits and collaborate with brokers for benefit analysis and renewals.

Employee Relations

  • Provide consultation and recommendations on disciplinary actions related to employee performance.
  • Conduct investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, and grievances.
  • Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding organizational policies.
  • Propose and develop new policies and procedures to enhance HR efficiency.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary, and the scope of the role may evolve based on organizational needs.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred or a minimum of five years of relevant HR experience.
  • Experience in areas such as onboarding, training, talent acquisition, and employee engagement is essential.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
