BASIC FUNCTION: The incumbent oversees the Quality System and serves as the management representative for Monroe's Quality system. This position manages both internal and external audit programs. Assists the operation departments in the implementation of Quality System principles within the plant environment including auditing, process capabilities, process control plans, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to achieve desired quality level measured by internal and external rejections. Participates in the implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of the current Quality System. This incumbent is responsible for creating and implementation Quality System Procedures. DIMENSIONS: One Mill NATURE AND SCOPE: The Quality Systems Analyst reports directly to the QA/Metallurgy and Operational Excellence Manager. The incumbent works closely with production personnel to assist and ensure implementation of the quality system and its principles into their processes. The incumbent supports the QA/Metallurgy Department in the design and implementation of control plans, FMEA's and other quality planning tools to ensure a highly predictable and consistent level of conformance to customer specifications. Initiates, leads, and successfully completes improvement projects which are selected based on quality data analysis. The incumbent leads investigation of quality system related problems including root cause analysis. The incumbent should be experienced in providing quality system training sessions to all levels of the organization. Qualifications for this job will include knowledge, abilities, and background as can be demonstrated by one with a four-year technical degree or equivalent experience with a solid background in a quality assurance discipline, combined with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant manufacturing environment. It's required that the QSA attains Lead Internal and Supplier Auditor Certification. The incumbent assists the local plant management in activities which may include resolving customer issues, developing policies and procedures, along with helping production in quality decision making process, process documentation, and communication with internal and external customers, and quality data reports.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Manages, coordinates, schedules, and maintains the Internal and external audit program and Corrective Action system, along with any follow-up activities, which comply with the current quality system requirements. 2. Benchmarks quality systems for improvement through participation in internal quality system audits at other Gerdau facilities. 3. Participates in implementation and continual monitoring of the current quality system requirements to establish and maintain a world class quality system. 4. Develops and implements a quality planning system (including process validation techniques, process control plans, and FMEA's) to ensure process and product consistency. 5. Coordinates and schedules internal auditor training, failure analysis and core tools training. Supports and provides training as required by various plant improvement teams. 6. Assists management in formulating and implementing quality policies and procedures. 7. Assists production teams in quality related problem solving and implementation of corrective actions to achieve consistent process and product quality. 8. Assists with the development of and assesses the effectiveness of the supplier's quality system. Interfaces with customers to establish process and quality related specifications and resolves quality system related issues. 9. Responsible for document and data control and records maintenance. 10. Responsible for following the Cardinal Safety Rules. 11. Responsible for working within the EMM processes. 12. Responsible for completing all required annual safety and environmental training. Employee is expected to know, understand, and follow all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental legal requirements.
