Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Human Resources Representative to join our team at Shaw University. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office, ensuring compliance with regulatory concerns and reporting, and providing exceptional support to employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the administration of employer-sponsored benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
  • Disseminate various HR communications, such as company announcements, policy updates, and employee recognition programs.
  • Assist with performance management and improvement systems, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and coaching.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues, such as conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory concerns and reporting, including labor laws, employment laws, and industry standards.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, development, and training processes, including new hire orientation, training programs, and career development initiatives.
  • Facilitate New Employee Orientation and ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
  • Document HR processes and procedures, including policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform office administration duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining records.
  • Assist with employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health initiatives, including employee assistance programs, wellness initiatives, and safety training.
  • Maintain HRIS system and ensure accurate and up-to-date employee data.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three to five years of recent and related HR experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources laws and regulations, including labor laws, employment laws, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with digital technology, social media, HRIS software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Detail-oriented with strong written, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record as defined by Shaw University.
  • PHR certification preferred.
