Customer Service Representative

As a Customer Service Representative at Food Lion, you will play a vital role in providing fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to our customers. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers, and working collaboratively with other store associates to achieve our goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service, engaging with customers to create a positive shopping experience
Greet each customer and use their name whenever possible, creating a personalized experience
Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt, making it easy for them to bag their items
Check the bottom of every cart and under all baby seats for items before completing an order, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
Follow correct bagging procedures, using the right bags for the right items
Scan customers' orders and handle payment transactions, following standard practice
Avoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are present, maintaining a professional atmosphere
Follow procedures for handling cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps, and WIC vouchers
Follow procedures for refunds and error correction, ensuring accuracy and fairness
Maintain accurate cash control, making every effort to minimize errors
Follow procedures and perform overrides as needed, ensuring compliance with company policies
Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take their order to their car, including Food Lion To-Go orders (if applicable)
Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers, ensuring a smooth shopping experience
Check prices quickly and accurately, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
Be courteous and helpful to other associates, creating a positive and supportive work environment
Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, maintaining a professional appearance
Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and cart corrals, utilizing the tether strap as needed
Ensure the work station and front-end area (if applicable) of the store has a neat and clean presentation, maintaining a positive shopping environment
Report any register malfunction to the Customer Service Manager or MOD, ensuring prompt resolution
Ensure the MVP savings center KIOSK is filled with paper and properly working, maintaining a smooth shopping experience
Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents, ensuring a safe working environment
Notify QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required on front end, ensuring prompt resolution
Successfully complete computer-based training (CBT) and training aid courses, staying up-to-date on company policies and procedures
Perform the task of cashier when scheduled or as needed per the surge plan guidelines, ensuring a smooth shopping experience
Perform the task of managing the front end in the brief absence of the CSM/ACSM if needed, ensuring service standards are maintained
Perform the task of Food Lion To-Go Runner when scheduled or as needed, ensuring a smooth shopping experience
Ensure check stands are supplied with proper bags, register receipt paper, Catalina coupon paper, and restock cigarette drawers at each check lane, maintaining a smooth shopping experience
Find more efficient ways to do the job and seek to reduce costs and improve labor productivity, continuously improving processes and procedures
Perform all other duties as assigned, staying flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
