Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the store manager in the operation of the entire store
  • Supervise retail operations and provide excellent customer service
  • Resolve customer concerns and problems in a fair and equitable manner
  • Hire, train, motivate, and discipline staff
  • Perform required administrative functions, including sales and labor reports, schedules, reviews, and timecards
  • Assist with budget and inventory planning
  • Train complex procedures to seasonal staff annually
  • Anticipate and maintain stock levels to support store sales expectations
  • Plan and execute operational and staffing needs to effectively run the store
  • Manage the entire store operation in the absence of the store manager
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Associates degree in Horticulture or related post-secondary education
  • Ability to work from any Bachman's retail store location
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and build relationships with customers and staff
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Technical knowledge of POS systems, Windows, and Excel
  • Knowledge of merchandise and display
  • Ability to flex and display initiative in a short amount of time
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments
  • High energy level, with the ability to provide strong leadership, train, delegate, and motivate staff
Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position include the ability to use a telephone, POS system, perform repetitive movements of the arms and shoulders, stand for extended periods of time, move freely around the store, bend, twist, reach, squat, climb a ladder occasionally, and regularly lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
