Job Summary

Tennessee Tech University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive financial literacy program for students, as well as providing exceptional customer service and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver financial literacy presentations and workshops to students, parents, and community members.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling and guidance to students and families on financial aid options, budgeting, and debt management.
  • Represent the financial aid office at outreach events, such as high school visits, community fairs, and student orientation.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Admissions, Bursar, and Student Affairs, to promote cooperative relationships and ensure seamless student support.
  • Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and institutional regulations, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to students, parents, and colleagues, with a focus on tact, discretion, and professionalism.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field, such as education, business, or finance.
  • Minimum of two years of direct financial aid experience or four years of related professional experience.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures, as well as travel independently to outreach events.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to counsel parents and/or students with confidential and delicate situations.
  • High level of organization and ability to handle a large volume of work under pressure.
  • Effective oral, written, listening, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience as a presenter or trainer, with the ability to engage and motivate audiences.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-traffic environment and provide timely, accurate results.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and attend to details as needed.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when scheduling appointments for students.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial aid reporting, as well as federal and state regulations.
