Clinical Support Specialist

Position Summary: The Clinical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting healthcare providers in delivering quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting the physician in patient management, which includes measuring vital signs, gathering patient history and primary concerns, and assisting with minor surgical procedures and biopsies. Additional duties encompass educating patients about their treatment plans and medications, managing patient communications, and aiding in surgical procedures. The role also involves performing medical assistant tasks such as suture removal, dressing changes, and preparing pathology and laboratory requisition forms.
Essential Qualifications:
1. Proficient in data entry and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
2. Experienced with tablet devices
3. Strong verbal and written communication abilities
4. Solid understanding of skin anatomy and medical terminology
5. Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
6. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team
7. Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
8. Capacity to handle multiple tasks concurrently
9. Compassionate towards patient needs and concerns
10. Proficient in anticipating the needs of physicians regarding patient care
11. Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
Reporting Structure:
The Clinical Support Specialist reports directly to the Clinical Coordinator.
Educational Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program or dermatology technician program is essential.
Physical Demands:
Strong English communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with medical staff and management. Adequate eyesight is required to read medical documentation and utilize computer systems. Manual dexterity is needed to handle reference materials and operate medical charts and keyboards.
Work Environment:
Typical office environment conditions apply. Initial training phases may involve elevated stress levels as new skills and information are acquired.
