Military and Family Life Counselor Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Military and Family Life Counselor to join our team at VetJobs. As a Military and Family Life Counselor, you will provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling services to eligible service members and their families at military installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling services to military members and their families, including assessment, brief counseling, and consultation.
  • Deliver training and health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs, and other base/installation activities as requested.
  • Enter counselor activity data daily through a smartphone or web application to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with community resources and provide appropriate linkages for service members and their families.
  • Partner with installation Points of Contact to provide Military and Family Life Counseling services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accredited graduate program in a relevant field of study, such as social work, psychology, marriage/family therapy, or counseling.
  • Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory, or Commonwealth that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Intermediate-level competencies in technology and software, including Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, smartphone/tablet, and video-conferencing platform navigation.

Salary Range:

$59,922 - $100,280

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
